2017 Legislative Session

Legislator Budget Involvement

Contrary to the practices of many states, Utah Representatives are intricately involved in the budgeting process by participating in budget committees. I was assigned to the Public Education Appropriations Committee this year. We worked hard to push funding closer to the local level. We increased the WPU by 4%, funded teacher licensure fees, increased the teacher classroom supplies reimbursement, and we fully funded all new growth. I voted against all tax increases and voted for tax relief for businesses and citizens.
